The wide voltage input (9-50 VDC) makes it compatible with a broader range of power sources than the compact RUT range, including solar and battery systems. The RUT956 is the most capable 4G router in this list. The RS485 Modbus RTU support is why the RUT956 ends up on solar farms, BESS installations, and EV charging networks. The RUT956 reads those registers directly and can forward data over MQTT to cloud platforms, without additional gateway hardware.
GPS/GNSS adds accurate location and timing to the deployment. Useful for tracking assets, providing UTC timestamping for telemetry data, and for applications in transportation and utilities where position information has operational value.
The RUT956 replaced the RUT955 with a faster CPU, longer lifecycle support, and ongoing firmware development. For new deployments in energy, utilities, transport, or any application with serial-connected legacy devices, the RUT956 is the correct choice.
